First I want to thank you for visiting my website and seeing what my business is
all about. I take great pride in being the creator and owner of Mobile Massage Therapy. Starting my own business has been both the hardest and most
liberating experience of my life.
I was born and raised in upstate New York, however after living in
Savannah, Georgia for 11 years I decided the South was the place for me. I have now lived in Durham since 1995 and consider the triangle my permanent home.
Why Massage?
Earlier in life I received a college degree and for years I worked in the corporate world of middle management, primarily in customer service and product control. I was successful by most standards, but something was missing. When September 11, 2001 occurred it propelled me to take a closer look at my life and where I was going. I'm sure I speak for others as well as myself when I say that September 11th was a life altering experience. It gave me pause to re-think what success really meant to me. The thought of being a Massage Therapist entered my mind many times over the years. As an amateur I enjoyed massaging friends, and that combined with my people skills and corporate experience, I often considered the possibility of doing it for a career.
I seriously considered it a viable career choice soon after 9/11 when I received a massage in Durham. I had received many massages over the years and for the most part they were wonderful, but this particular massage was, in a word, abysmal. I did not feel my concerns or needs were addressed during the intake process, and during the massage the therapist felt distant and vague, basically I was just another body in line for the day. I walked out of that spa disappointed, and with a feeling that I could do better than that. This experience coupled with 9/11 were the pivotal elements that guided me to massage therapy as a viable career and life style change.
After extensive research I chose to receive my massage and bodywork training and degree from the Body Therapy Institute, the only COMTA accredited massage school in the Carolina's. COMTA is the highest standard of quality assurance in the massage therapy profession. It is there where I began my wonderful journey of bringing the Mind, Body and Spirit onto a conscious level of awareness and began a career I only dreamed of in prior years.
I specialize in Swedish, Deep Tissue, Pregnancy and Hot Stone Massages.
"My favorite type of massage to give is one that most serves a clients specific needs. I enjoy educating the public about how the benefits of receiving bodywork can bring appreciation and awareness to ones journey towards wellness and body-mind integration".
Interests include: Walking in the woods, Golfing, Mountain Biking, Tennis, Reading and spending quality time with those I care about.
